RELOCATION SHIPMENT
The relocation of your personal effects includes the succession of 3 processes: the relocation preparation, the relocation shipment, and the relocation delivery. Here are the successive steps of the relocation shipment.
7. Groupage
When you have a small volume of personal effects to move, it is recommended that your shipment be consolidated with other clients into a container that will be shipped into your destination country. That helps you save costs, but also often requires a timely delivery to your new home. It also generally requires a stronger insurance protection, as it is subject to more physical handling and therefore a higher risk of damage. A way to mitigate the risk due to physical handling is to pack your personal effect into a wooden crate, which is more costly than simple cartons.
8. Transportation
When your volume of personal effects justifies the use of a container of 20' (volumes of 35 CBM), of 40' (volume of 50 CBM) or of 40'HQ (volumes of 65 CBM) for sea transportation, then it is directly loaded into those and is transported to the nearest port. When your relocation is urgent and you can afford air transportation (consider 10 x the price of sea transportation), then it is loaded in wooden crates that are then loaded into the plane.
9. International and domestic relocations
This is for international relocations. When your relocation is domestic, then there is generally a straight forward trucking between your previous home and your new home. We offer both international and domestic relocation. For large countries, domestic relocation is generally done by truck, but can also be done by train. Depending on the volume of personal effects to relocate, we will then use either a container of 20', 40' or 40'HQ or a wooden crate for smaller volumes.
10. Shipment protection
We are experts at transportation and relocation, and always take the highest level of care with your personal effects. Sometimes, unfortunately, the unexpected does happen, which is why we offer shipment protection plans for you to get added peace of mind, especially when you are moving fragile objects. When you have very valuables goods such as antiques or very expensive branded items, then we will introduce you to our insurance partner, which will offer you his coverage plans directly for your perusal.
It is important that you specify this need during the visit at your home of your dedicated relocation manager, who can explain to you the different protection plans we offer. When you need it, it is important that it be present in your quotation, as such a coverage must be taken prior to the shipment (never after!).
